Although we had only launched the previous website a year earlier, we believed there was an opportunity to make it even better.
Working closely with the organisers, we completely redesigned and rebuilt the website for a second time, creating a cleaner, faster and more intuitive platform that encouraged greater participation throughout the awards process.
Rather than simply refreshing the design, every decision was focused on improving the experience for the people using it.
Because when digital works well, more people take part. And when more people take part, more inspirational stories are discovered.
Previous third party voting systems had created unnecessary complications, inconsistent reporting and a frustrating experience for both the organisers and the public. So we built something that fitted the awards properly.
The success of the new platform spoke for itself. Following the launch of the new website and bespoke voting system, the Milton Keynes Inspiration Awards achieved its highest public engagement ever.
More than 36,000 votes were cast, more than double the previous highest voting record in the awards' history.
For us, this was not simply a technical success. It meant thousands more people took the time to recognise and celebrate the individuals making Milton Keynes a better place.
That is exactly what great digital experiences should achieve.
One of the most memorable moments of the evening came as a complete surprise.
Following the success of the new website and bespoke voting platform, the organisers presented Plexus Creatives with a Special Recognition Award, acknowledging our contribution to the continued growth and success of the Milton Keynes Inspiration Awards.
It was not something we were expecting, and it certainly was not why we became involved.
Our goal has always been simple, to use our digital expertise to help the awards reach more people, celebrate more inspirational stories and create the very best experience for everyone taking part.
